Great blue heron on the duckpond

We have a number of wild birds who live on our property. They’ve been enjoying the weather these past few weeks. We’ve had so much rain, our pond is finally starting to fill up again. It’s still not to its normal levels, but it’s getting there. Yesterday, we had an osprey, several Mexican Squeekers (funny brown ducks with red feet and beaks), and a two Great Blue Heron. Here’s one of the heron standing on the dock.
Sorry I couldn’t get any closer for you. I did manage to get a few blurry shots of it flying away. They’re not very fond of me stalking them with the camera. See that bench and chairs on the little hill just beyond the dock? That’s where we sit and enjoy a glass of wine and the sunset when the weather’s a little warmer. It has been cold here recently (cold for us). Yesterday, it was freezing, with sleet falling later in the evening.
I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to some warmer days, when I can sit next to the pond, and watch the wildlife.
