Midnight ramblings of an Irish Wolfhound

February 16, 2012 § 7 Comments

Not too long ago, we discovered that Otis, our biggest Irish Wolfhound, has been sneaking into the kitchen at night.  It’s not as if we keep food lying around on the counters.  But when a dog weighs 200 pounds, it’s pretty easy for him to push his way into all sorts of things.  So, we got one of those kid gates (you know the kind that people put in front of their stairs, so small children don’t fall down?  Yeah, that kind).  We put the gate in front of the kitchen entry.  For awhile, it worked.  Then, a few nights ago, Otis figured out how to slide the gate open, gaining access to the kitchen once again.  So far, he hasn’t stolen anything really bad…a few pieces of bread, half a stick of butter from the butterdish, and a potato.  He also licked the trash can lid.
